Toys R Us Gets In On Game Trade-Ins
Geoffrey Will Give You a Nickel For Your Copy of Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter

There’s a community post over on CheapAssGamer that’s blowing up like something that blows up real well. A post by user phear3d reports that his local Toys R Us has started taking used video games as trade-ins, giving store credit in exchange. The new program was announced with the following sign, displayed in the store’s front window;
Phear3d also reports that he called the Nanuet, NY store, and was told that the program is something of a test-balloon, gauging whether the policy would work in other stores, and started its 12-week trial run about a month ago. I called my local TRU in King of Prussia, PA, and was told that Toys R Us does not accept trade-ins. When I told the representative about this story, he told me that he is not aware of any such program, so this is new policy is apparently not a matter of common knowledge.
The bottom line is that this means more options for gamers, and that’s never a bad thing. It will be interesting to see if the program takes off, and, if it does, how their trade-in prices compare to those of GameStop, who made about $800 million in used game sales last year.

I don't know, Toys R Us is the last place i ever think to get when picking up video games. In fact i have never purchased a video game from them. Hopefully they can give a good price and not rip you off like gamestop.
I totally agree with VS. They may offer better trade-in values cause hardly anyone ever goes to TRU for games nowadays.
Agreed, the last time I remember getting a game at Toys R Us is when my family got our first NES (with Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt included!). HOWEVER, if they have significantly better trade-in values than GameStop, that could really change things.
Actually I have picked up a game, here and there, from Toys R Us. It's where I found Infinite Waste of Patience (Infinite Undiscovery) and where I picked up Disgaea 3 (because I couldn't find it ANYWHERE else).
As for a trade-in place, I'm not sure if it's reputable yet. But I might have to investigate --just like anyone else on the site-- for further details. I might just give them a call tomorrow. I'm sure I'm too lazy to call today with all this white fluffy stuff coming down from..., Heaven? Anyway, back to doing stuff!
I don't really care what the sign on the outside of the store says - Funco Land, GameStop, Toys R Us - the only thing that matters to me is who is going to give me the most credit for a trade.
I wonder if this means that Toys R Us will also be getting into the business of selling used games...
Oh yeah, I did GET a game at TRU. I didn't buy it. Funny story.
Quite a few years ago. Back in the old PS1 days. (The GLORY days) I went in and bought The Legend of Dragoon (my first, and favorite RPG). The game was supposed to be $44 after tax. I was with my mom and we bought a bunch of other stuff. We get into the car, look in my bag, and said to my mom, "That price didn't seem right". So I grab the receipt, and saw that they never charged my for the game. Sweet right? So, I don't know if that counts, but there you go, lol.
TRU breaks street dates. Thanks, guys. Would you kindly continue that practice instead?
FYE also breaks them too. And if you know certain people in OTHER gaming stores.
@Riphade: The Legend of Dragoon was an awesome game and I wish I could find it for a decent price.
