Ubisoft Making Beyond Good & Evil 2

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

by Veggie Jackson

On occasion, the fates will hand you a piece of news that rekindles your faith in humanity and all that’s right and good in the world.  Today’s announcement from Ubisoft doesn’t quite fall into that category, but it’s real close. Cult classic and critical darling Beyond Good & Evil will finally be getting a sequel.  For the multitudes who never played the game, BG&E is industry legend Michel Ancel’s utterly charming, sublimely designed action title that features tons of varied gameplay elements, memorable music, unforgettable characters and a deeply engrossing story.  Sadly, it was also one of those "great games that nobody played," and was a commercial failure.

While no announcement was officially made, the final video shown at Ubisoft’s conference, Ubidays, is very clearly a teaser for the much anticipated title.

The video doesn’t show a whole lot other than a highly detailed pig mechanic named Peyj and the out-of-focus back of the game’s protagonist, Jade, but that’s more than enough to get fans of the original drooling.  No info on release dates or anything like that, but we will certainly stay on top of this title when any new info becomes available.  Who knows, maybe this time someone other than the critics will actually buy this game!

Yes, yes, yes, fu*king YES! I was a pretty big fan of this game and cannot wait for a sequel. Uncle Pey'j and Jade are back! Jade's hair's a little longer, it looks. Oh, well, I'll forgive her as long as the game is as good as the first. ;)

Yay! Now, post the list of Ubisoft's Nintendo releases...... that's a pretty BIG downer ;(

Sorry, but I decided from now on to limit my ubisoft purchases until they decide to cut in the crap shovelware releases.

(even though they do make some gems sometimes, I'm just sick of the general mentality when it comes to the Wii and DS)
