Uncharted 3 Details Emerge

Bring a Bottle of Water

Entertainment Weekly isn't usually the premiere source for gaming news, but today they posted a revealing spotlight article on the third Uncharted game today.  Among the many details we learned was the game’s official; title, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

The article explains that in the game, Drake is both the victim and perpetrator of the titular “Deception,” and that Drake’s very identity may, in fact, be a deception. The story will focus on Drake and Sully’s relationship, as well as a quest to find a legendary lost city that will take the characters to the Arabian Peninsula and Rub’ al Khali Desert.

Drake’s story will take pages from those of both Sir Francis Drake and T.E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), and aspires to be an “interactive cinematic experience.”  New innovations will include the ability to fight multiple enemies at once, enhanced backwards climbing, and a greatly expanded multiplayer experience.  In addition, the game will support stereoscopic 3D.

No official release date is listed, but EW tells us to plan on the game coinciding with the release of the first Uncharted novel, "Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth."  We’ll get a much earlier look at the game, however, as Gavin Purcell, the co-producer of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, tweeted that the game will be demoed on next Monday’s epsode.
