VIZIO Signs Deal With OnLive
Built-In Gaming Service With TVs, Blu-Rays, Phones, and Tablets

Every time I think OnLive is just about to die, they come up with some way to make me think they might just survive. First, they announced that they wouldn’t be charging a monthly subscription fee, which kept some people from discarding the system. Now they’ve announced a partnership with VIZIO that will see the cloud-based gaming system integrated into TVs, Blu-Ray players, mobile phones, and tablet computers.
According to the announcement made at CES 2011 today, VIZIO will feature OnLive as an out-of-the-box application on their new line of VIA Plus products. This includes new tablet computers and smart phones from the American TV manufacturer.
OnLive has had trouble attracting new users, but an out-of-the-box deal with the world’s largest TV seller could provide a huge boost to their name recognition and subscriber base. New TV customers are bound to at least try out the fee service, and those without a traditional console in their living room may just like what they find.
