Here’s something weird; Nintendo still likes making money!  This fact was confirmed by Charles Martinet on his Twitter account on Saturday.  Martinet, better known as the voice of Mario, Tweeted about an “Awesome new Mario game…and it's not NSMB [New Super Mario Bros.] Wii, and it's not Galaxy 2.”  So what the heck is it?

This is the first we’ve heard of another Mario title coming down the pipeline, so we’re eagerly awaiting details from Nintendo, Martinet, or pretty much anyone else that can give us information.  With the 3D and 2D platformer genres covered by NSMB Wii and SMG 2, what type of title are we expecting from this new title?  While I’d be perfectly happy with a new installment of an existing Mario franchise, like Mario Party, Smash Bros., or Mario Kart, I’d really like to see what else Nintendo can do with their mascot.

Mario’s never had a football game, so that’s a possibility, but American pigskins don’t fly particularly well in Europe and Japan.  Maybe it’s an open-world action title, or a Harvest Moon-inspired mushroom farming game, or even some sort of top down shoot-em-up/survival-horror/rhythm game/fishing sim hybrid that will blow our minds.  Or maybe it’s another Mario Sunshine, which would blow no one's mind.  Regardless, it’s got the plumber in it, and as Martinet says, "it's going to be crazy fun!" so expect sales well into the millions.
