Wii Mario Kart To Feature Text Chat
That’s A Feature Now, Huh?
In an effort to keep up with the latest technologies of 1994, Nintendo will be including text chat support as a feature in Mario Kart Wii. According to IGN, players will be able to text chat before and after races, presumably via Wii-mote text entry. Many Wii titles support USB keyboards, so assuming the same for Mario Kart is a relatively safe bet. And because it’s the Wii, you will only be able to chat with people with whom you’ve exchanged friend codes.
“Features” like this only serve to highlight the fact that Nintendo, despite their commercial success, is woefully lacking in the online service department. In a game as competitive and intense as Mario Kart, it would be great to smack-talk with opponents as you play. Sadly, we’ll probably need to wait for Nintendo’s next generation console to get functionality like that. In the meantime, we can all look forward to Coop ruining everyone’s good time with inappropriate text messages about Bullet Bill and our mothers.
