When Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out, one of the most intriguing new characters in the game was Pit, the hero of the NES classic, Kid Icarus.  With his combination of flight, swordfighting and archery skills, he quickly became a favorite among Brawlers new and old.

That was his first appearance in a video game since his debut back in 1987.  As we reported earlier today, Nintendo has sort of kind of unofficially confirmed-but not-confirmed a new Kid Icarus title for the Wii.  Factor 5, the developers behind the excellent Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series and the significantly less excellent Lair, will be developing the title, and Kombo.com has early concept images of the main character.  The designs range from cheerful and Disney-inspired to gritty and God of War-inspired.  No idea if any of them are going to b used, but it’s always interesting to see the process behind choosing the look of a main character.  Especially one that’s been on sabbatical for 21 years.  There’s only a couple of images here, but you can check out the rest on Kombo.
