First Images From GI Joe Movie
Bad-Ass, Or Just Plain Bad? You Decide.
For those who don’t know, there’s a live-action GI Joe movie coming to theaters in 2009. The news about the film has been mixed so far, with some info giving hope to me and many others, and some making fans cringe. The first set of images from the movie were released this weekend, and, honestly, I’m not sure what to think. (Click for full-size images)
Sure, the visor is downright perfect and the combination of gun and sword, not to mention the Arashikage clan markings, shows that they might just have the character right. Even the USA Today interview was promising, with the director stating, "He's the world's greatest ninja, but he's also next-generation. He's not afraid to use a sword one second, and a split-second later he's pulling out his Glock" and "His chief nemesis is arguably the world's other great ninja, Storm Shadow. The two grew up together, were blood brothers and now are mortal enemies." But what’s with the fake rubber muscles? Seriously, the guy’s a ninja supercommando, not a cheeseball Schumaker superhero! I don’t know. He kind of looks cool, I guess. Maybe. You tell me; which category should these pic fall under:

i'm hoping for the best here, but i just don't know...
WTF is 3rd rock from the sun's failure of a main character doing as Cobra...unless he pulls of an Elijah Woods-esque Kevin a la Sin City, the movie, coupled with a few of its risky casting choices, could be filled with fail.
Back on topic, the costume looks cool, but it looks like a CGI concept art shot, not a live-actor in-costume...if it turns out to be some Beowulfy CGI mutant, I will have problems justifying seeing it.
Am I the only one who would go apeshit to see G.I. Joe done 80's Real American Hero style (the comics, I mean, not the watered-down cartoons) with a Frank Miller twist?
The movie will probably be terrible. Although, if there's a PSA at the end that concludes in the line "And knowing is half the battle!" I will not leave the theater disappointed.

everyone who is shit talking levitt honestly needs to watch the last few films hes made (most importantly brick and gregg araki's mysterious skin). he is one of the most talented young actors working today and although even I can't imagine him as cobra commander I am sure he will knock it out of the park. and hes dreamy as a mother fucker to boot.
