New Releases

Week Ending Saturday June 9, 2007

by Vigo the Carpathian

And the trickle continues. Only 2 console releases this week and one of them is a remake. PC fans fare only slightly better with the addition of a few strategy titles and a tycoon game that's gonna make my wife flip out. And there's some stupid Dragon Ball Z card game thingy. Blecchh!

PlayStation 2

Tomb Raider Anniversary - 6/5 Crystal Dynamics continues their resuscitation of the decade-old franchise with an updated reimagining of the original Tomb Raider.

PSP

Shrek the Third - 6/5 The PSP version promises all the dismal gameplay of the console versions, but with worse graphics!

XBox 360

Call of Juarez - 6/5 A first-person shooter set in the old west. Word is that it's both gorgeous and extremely challenging (in a good way).

PC

Diner Dash: Flow on the Go - 6/4 Playfirst Play All Day Pack - 6/4 Surf's Up - 6/4 (Re-solicit) UFO Afterlight - 6/4 The spirit of XCom lives on in this strategy game from new developer Altar Interactive. Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Platinum Edition - 6/4 Call of Juarez - 6/5 Hospital Tycoon - 6/5 The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff - 6/5 Tomb Raider Anniversary - 6/5 Nancy Drew: White Wolf of Icicle Creek - 6/7 Scratches Director's Cut - 6/8 (Re-solicit)

Nintendo DS

Tomb Raider is so a guilty pleasure for me.

Eww, nothing on the list looks good. Maybe if the TRA was for 360 or Wii as well...

Call of Juarez looks cool. And finally I can buy my Sims the shitty H&M clothes I'd never buy for myself! Hooray!

Nothing too interesting, though Call of Juarez sounds intriguing. I hadn't heard of it before.
