Well, I can't say for sure,

but if you go on esrb.org and search for Dragon Quest IV,

you get:

Nope, DQ4 is currently out in Japan only on DS, still no official word about it in the US. (Though now that it's ESRB rated it's a pretty good hint that it should)

and yes, I can't wait for 9 too. But the 4th will always be one of my favorite.

I know it's complete and utter blasphemy, but I have never played a Dragon Quest game. I'm guessing this will be a good place to start?

Try to get Dragon Quest 8 for PS2, it goes pretty cheap nowadays and is amazing. ( engine developed by Level 5)
